Pre-Employment Health Assessments
Pre-Employment Health Assessments (PEHA) are the best way to determine if an individual’s health and fitness levels are an appropriate match for a given role and its tasks. The assessment can also identify any risks that may arise when a worker completes their duties.Â
Review candidates, identify risk and rapidly recruit prospective employees.
Our pre-employment medicals offer a quality experience. Our procedures, online platforms and team of professionals allows us to deliver innovative outcomes to improve service delivery nationwide.
Did you know that a wrong hire can cost a business up to 2.5 times the salary of the employee?

The main components of a pre-employment medical include:
Detailed Medical History
- Comprehensive medical questionnaire
Physical Measures
This includes:
- Blood pressure
- Heart rate
- Body weight
- Height
- BMI
Standardised Vision Test
Certain visual acuity parameters may be required for specific roles. Due to this, base line screening and ongoing surveillance will need to be carried out to ensure any deficits can be identified and the candidate given an opportunity to obtain corrective devises such as glasses which may be appropriate to their future employment.
Distance Vision Screening: This test is conducted at 3M distance using a Snellen eye chart. Screening is carried out with individual eyes and then with both eyes respectively. A repeat vision test may need to be carried out if requested by the referrer once any corrective devices have been obtained.
Colour Vision Screening: This test is carried out with the use of both eyes using the Ishihara colour plates placed 75cm from the candidate.
Audiometry Evaluations
Useful for monitoring long-term noise exposure, Audiometry can prevent employer liability for future hearing loss injuries.
Audiometry testing is for medium/high risk
Spirometry Test
Our test measures the degree of airflow obstruction in the lungs and can be used to determine how the lungs are functioning. For example: this test can provide an insight into the lung capacity of workers with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Spirometry Testing is for medium/high risk roles.
Instantaneous drug and alcohol screening
Accurate and reliable testing for drugs and alcohol, in accordance with AS 4308 testing standards.
This test can also be conducted as its own service:
- On-site, for covert random screening,
- At a Recovery Partners office.
